The Experience Management and XLA® Practitioner Exam is designed to assess whether candidates have achieved a sufficient and practical understanding of Experience Management, the Experience Design Methodology™, and the Experience Management Office (XMO™), enabling them to design, implement, and manage effective Experience Level Agreements (XLAs®) within tech-driven organizations and ecosystems.
The exam is offered by the XLA® Institute and successful candidates receive the Experience Management and XLA® Practitioner Certification, issued by Van Haren Certify.
About Experience Management and XLA®
XLA® represents a commitment to applying Experience Management (XM) in technology-enabled organizations. Experience Management focuses on deliberately designing, measuring, and improving the experiences of customers, employees, and other stakeholders to achieve tangible business outcomes.
XLA® builds on and complements established technology management philosophies:
- Lean – aiming for No Waste
- ITIL – aiming for No Chaos
- Agile – aiming for No Delay
XLA® adds the missing dimension: No Frustration, by embedding empathy, curiosity, and customer-centric thinking into performance management and governance.

- Design XLAs® that align experience ambitions with business impact
- Integrate experience, operational, and technical data into an Experience Reference Matrix (XRM™)
